1950's Fashion

Hello Readers!

Today we will be going back in time to talk about fashion in the 1950's!  You saw a preview of what we will be covering in our "Welcome" post!  Let's get started! Overall, fashion in the 1950's was very mismatched.

Tops:

During the 1950's, printed and collared tops were very popular. A loose blouse was also very well-worn.  These shirts were popular because they were able to be washed easily.  Jackets with peplum waistlines were mostly used to give a woman a nipped silhouette and a rounded figure.

Bottoms:

The 1950's brought us the well known pencil skirt. There were several types of shorts and pants, from Bermuda shorts to pedal pusher pants and lets not forget ankle length pants.

Dresses:

Dresses that showed off a woman's "hourglass" shape were very popular during the 1950's.  The sheath dress did a good job of showing off this look.  The were known for their elegant simplicity.  They also put very ornate necklines on their dresses.

Shoes:

Both men and women in the 1950's commonly wore saddle shoes that are still popular today. For women the thinner more fashionable shoe choice was the stilettos.

This picture shows the different fashion trends of the 1950's.

Not only has fashion changed over the years, but so have the models.  In the 1950's,  the women were mostly well-proportioned, but they had very small waists.

To conclude, the 1950's were full of innovative fashion designs. See you next time on our 1960's fashion trend blog post on Katholi Fashion Blog.
